My Services

Architecture begins with an idea.  You might have one already or you might need help coming up with one, either way I am here to assist.

I can work with you in a small way or I can assist from conception through to completion.

Opposite is a brief overview of a projects stages along with a description of the input I can have.  Below is a list of some of the services I provide:

  • Feasibility Advice

  • Pre-application Enquiries

  • 3D Visualisations

  • Building surveys

  • Planning and Listed Building Consent Consent

  • Warrant Approval

  • Contract Management

  • Deed Plans

Concept Design

This is where ideas are looked at in context in order to imagine a way in which your wishes and needs can be created.

I can help organise your ideas.  It’s important to assess and survey what is existing, I have equipment, training and experience in this. Then I can build a CAD model to help you visualise your project.

It’s important at this stage to consider cost.  It’s hard to know for sure how much money you will need, even after your design has taken shape but a discussion can be had and value judgments can be made about how to proceed.  The process can then continue until you are satisfied that your design is right.

Approval Process

Most non-domestic projects require Planning Consent and a Building Warrant.  When a project is in a conservation area (or other special area) or if it is listed, different consents are required.

There are many domestic projects these days that don’t require Planning Approval but normally they need a Building Warrant.

I can advise you about what approvals you need. I can also prepare drawings to submit to the council to obtain the approvals you need.

Construction

I feel this is the time in a project when an Architect is most useful. Two years of a Chartered Architects training consists of learning about how to manage construction projects on site. Without getting too technical, there are all manner of ways in which I can assist.
